How to use visualization to manifest your dreams

Visualization is a powerful tool for making major changes in your life. Today I’m sharing how to use visualization to manifest your dreams into reality.

How does visualization work?

Scientists have shown that the neurons in our brains (the cells that transmit information) processes imagery as though it is reality. This is why the Law of Attraction works, and why you can use visualization to manifest your dreams. What you visualize in effect becomes your brain’s reality.

It works both ways

Whether you’re purposefully imagining yourself driving a beautiful, new Jeep Rubicon or spending time thinking about how much you dislike driving your old, beat up junker, your brain is hard at work making that image your reality. This is why it’s so important to maintain a positive focus!

But your brain can’t think about two things at once. Working to continually focus your mind on the positive is going to keep negative thoughts and images at bay.

How can I use visualization to manifest my dreams into reality?

Technically, it is a meditation practice. If you already meditate you can easily incorporate visualization into your regular practice. Find a quiet place where you will be undisturbed for 15 minutes or so. Close your eyes and let your imagination go to town. Your goal here is to imagine yourself immersed in your desired final outcome.

Engage your senses

Engaging your senses in the visualization process will help make it feel more real. Focus on things like…

  • What does this place look like?
  • What are you doing?
  • Who is with you?
  • What are you wearing?
  • What sounds do you hear?
  • Can you smell anything?
  • Most importantly, make note of how it feels to be there, both physically and emotionally

So for example, let’s say you want to manifest a new job for yourself. Spend time visualizing yourself working at your new desk, in your new office, interacting with warm and friendly coworkers. See yourself engaging with your new boss and your direct reports.

Imagine you are wearing your preferred type of office attire, doing some of the tasks you enjoy, and receiving a paystub with your desired salary on it (pick a number and “see” it on the stub). Maybe you’re even hearing applause as you are accepting a prestigious award!

Another visualization method is drawing images or writing descriptions of what you desire in a journal. Describe what you want, all the way down to the most minute detail. The act of writing something down is a way of transforming an intangible thought or idea into its tangible form – just one step closer to having it become your reality.

How to use visualization to manifest your dreams

It’s not difficult to visualize but it is probably going to take some practice. As with anything, the more you do it, the better you will get at it! It helps to set aside a time each day to consciously visualize the reality you want. I recommend setting an alarm on your phone as a reminder – that’s what I do!
